Join our team as a Farm Intern at Hillandale Farm in Westerly, RI!
Responsibilities include:
Food Hub: Logistics, supply and fulfillment - helping fulfill orders and make deliveries. Inspect, pack for quality control, aggregation and delivery.
Farm: Seeding, transplanting, plant care, harvesting. Assist in basic equipment maintenance and repair.
Physical Demand: Ability to lift 50 lbs. Ability to work in variant weather conditions/temperatures.
Required Qualifications: Desire to work on a farm, grow food, learn, and be able to work effectively on a team. Cheerful professional presence as an ambassador to our Food Hub and Farm. Motivated to learn using scientific inquiry. Willingness to diversify work experience through our partner farm network, shared labor program.
Hours/Benefits: Pay up to $15/ hour, depending on experience, with opportunity for growth. Access to free or wholesale high-quality organic produce and grass-fed protein through our partner farm network. Flexible work schedule.

The Ayers Foundation hosts a variety of interns every year, utilizing Hillandale Farm in Westerly, RI as a primary training site. Our affiliate farms may be used as training sites on a case-by-case basis. Interns from high school, college level and beyond are invited to develop valuable skills in the science of soils, animal husbandry, agricultural best practices, fulfillment of retail orders and business acumen through on-the-job training. Our internship program incorporates science, technology, engineering, and math where applicable, and will even integrate the arts and humanities as appropriate. The Ayers Foundation provides such a robust experience that some interns have decided to stay for up to three years! Students from local high schools may use the farm experience in order to fulfill service hour requirements as well.
Although most internships are on a volunteer basis, the Ayers Foundation and the Tri-County Community Action Agency have collaborated to provide some paid internships.
